Hello friends, many times there comes a situation where we have to access other system's command prompt, i.e to enable Remote Desktop connection, to see what processes are ongoing on that system, etc. Obviously, it will cost you some bucks and a lot of your time to manually go there, sat on system and then do your specified task.
In this situation, there comes our savior PsTools. It is a bunch of light-weight programs which helps us to perform all the console commands on a remote client. It not only helps us in executing console commands but also to see and kill processes on remote client, to see who are logged on that system, to change account password, to shutdown and much more.
You can download PsTools from here: PsTools
You can download PsTools from here: PsTools
How to use PsTools:
Just copy all the programs under PsTools bunch and paste them here C:\Windows\System32.
Different programs which come under it are:
PsExec : to execute process remotely
PsKill : to kill processes
PsLoggedon : To see logged on users
PsShutdown : to shutdown/reboot
PsLogList : To view event logs
PsFile : To see files opened
Here our main concern is PsExec tool, which is used to access command prompt of remote client.
So, after placing them on your specified 'system32' folder in windows, opec your command prompt with administrator privilege.
It will show that the tool is connecting to that system. After connection is established you can verify it by typing 'ipconfig' command. It will show you the IP address of remote system. The title bar of cmd will also change to remote system name or its IP.
See, as easy to install as easy to use but of great use. :)
Enjoy.
